Workshops focused on discussion about challenges and issues facing European cities and the possibilities of using community planning (especially the Future City Game method) were part of the international conference Creative Community Planning on the 5th of November 2009.
Conference participants were split into eight groups (workshops). Each group discussed one of following themes:
- Issues and challenges facing present European cities
- Preferences of present European cities
- Present European cities and democracy
- Present European cities and equal opportunities
- Present European cities and climate change
- Present European cities and economic depression
- Present European cities and culture
- Present European cities and united Europe
Instructions for workshops:
- Briefly introduce yourself.
- Choose a person to write the minutes of your discussion and a person to present the output of your discussion to other groups. (It could be one person or a few people.)
- Do some short brainstorming on your theme. Each of you should write 1-3 ideas that occur in connection with the theme.
- Show your ideas and debate them. Look for common or different approaches across Europe.
- Think about how your ideas could be used in community planning and Future City Game.
- Prepare a maximum 5 minute-long presentation of your most interesting thoughts to other groups.
